Hazelnut Kuchen

100g butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup ground hazelnuts
3 egg yolks

3 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups ground hazelnuts

Rub the butter into the flour and add the rest of the ingredients.
Mix and knead into a dough.
Press into an ovenproof 24cm dish and bake for 15 minutes at 200 C.

Then spread with topping
Whisk egg whites till stiff and beat in the sugar till a thick meringue is formed.
Stir in the hazelnuts.
Reduce the oven temperature to 100 C and bake for a further 1 1/4 hours.
Leave to cool in dish.
Serve decorated with cream and hazelnuts.
Best cooked in the serving dish as the meringue breaks up.
